13Fox Fire Support Specialist (13F) – Colloquially referred to as “Forward Observers” are the eyes and ears of the Artillery. Considered to be Recce – Artillery these bad asses are responsible with calling for and adjusting artillery fire on our enemy. Most 13F Soldiers start their journey at One Station Unit Training “OSUT” at Ft. Sill Oklahoma. Ft. Sill is the Fires Center Of Excellence “FCOE”. Many 13F Soldiers are members of a Fire Support Team “FiST” and are often referred to as FiSTers! List of tasks performed by FiST'rs consist of operating radio equipment (voice and digital comms), operating laser range finders and targeting devices, vehicle maintenance, developing offensive and defensive fire support plans, and call for and adjustment of artillery, mortar, and naval gunfire.
